Physical Education
- Kathy Carr
kcarr2@k12tn.net

I came to Smith County in the fall of 2008 to teach physical
education for Defeated Elementary and Forks River Elementary. My
time is split between the two schools. I also coach basketball for
the Bulldogs of Forks River Elementary.
I grew up in the community of Allons, Tennessee and attended
Allons Elementary School in Overton County. I completed my high
school education at Livingston Academy and graduated from Tennessee
Technological University with a B.S. degree in Health and Physical
Education K-12 in 1984. While at Tennessee Tech, I was a member of
the majorette team "The Golden Girls" for three years and played on
the first softball team which started as a club sport before
becoming a full collegiate sport. Upon graduation, I worked in the
medical field for approximately sixteen years at Cookeville Regional
Medical Center and Livingston Regional Hospital. As the state
department made physical education mandatory several years ago, that
opened up physical education jobs all over the state and it was at
that point that I began my teaching career. I taught physical
education and coached girls basketball at Allons Elementary School
for six years before coming to Smith County.
My husband is Tommy Carr and we have three children Chelsea 21,
Ariel 19, and Beau 17. Chelsea is a junior at Tennessee Tech
University majoring in English, Ariel enters TTU this fall as well
majoring in Physical Education, and Beau attends Smith County High
School where he plays football and basketball for the Owls.
You can reach me during my planning
time Wednesday
and Thursday
mornings from 8:00 - 8:30.
