Art - Jenny Ford
fordj6@k12tn.net

I have been teaching art for 15 years, 12
of which have been here in Smith County. I currently serve 3
schools: Forks River, Gordonsville Elementary, and my alma mater,
Gordonsville High School. I earned my teaching credentials and my
Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts from Middle Tennessee
State University, with a major in metalsmithing and minor in
sculpture. After teaching art for 3 years at one of the Department
of Defense Dependant schools on Fort Campbell, I moved back home to
my family's farm here in Elmwood and I've been here ever since. In
the meantime, I earned my Master's degree in Education and a
certification to teach grades 1-8 from Tennessee Tech. I love
learning, so I seem to always be taking some sort of classes to
improve my craft in teaching and in art. I have taken
glassblowing, jewelry, and pottery classes at the Appalachian Center
for Crafts and I regularly attend the Arts Academy for teachers at
Belmont University in the summers. In my spare time, I love to
travel far and wide, I love concerts, old B movies, collecting
records, and of course, I am always making, drawing, or
painting something.
I am very proud and honored to work with the kids of
this county. I hope
that they will grow to appreciate art as an important form of
communication and self expression as we enjoy the journey of
learning
together.
My planning time is each day from 12:00- 12:30 if you need to set up
a time to meet with me.
